Safety and Compliance: How We Protect Every Load

Safety and compliance come first at KAV. As a Brampton, Ontario carrier running across Canada and into the United States, we follow the rules that apply on both sides of the border, and we back them with daily practices: trained drivers, well-maintained equipment and trip plans that respect hours-of-service rules.

Our safety program

• Driver qualification. Every driver holds a valid AZ (Class A) licence and passes a road test, abstract review and background checks before hiring.
• Ongoing training. Regular training on defensive driving, winter operations, cargo securement, food-safe handling and border procedures.
• Hours of service. Every truck uses an electronic logging device (ELD) compliant with Canadian and US rules. We plan trips legally and never pressure drivers to run over hours.
• Drug and alcohol program. Drivers operating in the United States participate in a compliant testing program.
• Preventive maintenance. Tractors, trailers and reefer units are serviced on schedule, with daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and annual safety inspections.
• Cargo security. Sealed loads, recorded seal numbers and secure parking practices.

Insurance

We carry auto liability and cargo insurance appropriate for refrigerated and general freight in Canada and the United States. A certificate of insurance is available on request and can name you as certificate holder.
